Privacy policy
Last updated: 16 August 2026
VerboQuiz is a set of thirty Android apps for learning verb conjugation, published by Claude-Alain Jeanmonod, Spain. This policy covers all thirty apps and this website. It is written to be read: we say what the apps do with data, without empty formulas.
What the app stores on your phone
When you create your profile and as you learn, the app stores:
- the first name or nickname you type — you can put anything, nothing is checked;
- your settings: goal, coach style, start screen, audio and playback speed;
- your progress: conjugations discovered, personal library, statistics by verb, by tense and by pronoun, streaks, milestones unlocked and journal.
This information stays in the app's private storage, on your device. It is never sent to any server of ours — we do not have one. We never have access to it.
You can erase everything at any time: Settings, then "Reset profile". Uninstalling the app also deletes this data.
Android's automatic backup
Android's system backup is enabled in the app. If you have allowed it on your phone, Android may copy the app's data to your own Google Drive space, so it can be restored if you change device.
That copy is yours and stays in your Google account: we have no access to it. You can turn this backup off in your phone's Android settings.
Advertising
The apps show a banner ad provided by Google AdMob. That is what makes it possible to offer them for free.
To display these ads, Google may collect and process:
- your device's advertising identifier;
- your IP address, in approximate form and not kept precisely;
- your device model, its Android version and its language;
- your interactions with the ads shown.
This data is collected and processed by Google as the data controller, under its own privacy policy. We do not receive it: we only see overall revenue figures, with no information about individuals.
In the European Union, a screen asks for your consent on first launch, before any personalised ad is shown. You may refuse: you will then see limited ads, chosen without any device identifier or personal data, and the app will work exactly the same. Your choice can be changed later.
You can also reset or delete your advertising identifier at any time, in your phone's Android settings.
The only format used is a banner at the bottom of the screen. No full-screen ad ever interrupts a practice session.
The "remove ads" purchase
Each app offers a one-off purchase that removes the banner ad.
Payment is handled entirely by Google Play. We see neither your payment method, nor your name, nor your address: the app only receives the information "this purchase was made on this device".
Pronunciation out loud
When you tap a play button, the word or sentence is passed to the text-to-speech engine installed on your phone — Google's, Samsung's or another, depending on the device.
That processing is governed by the provider of that speech engine and its own terms. The app keeps nothing of what is spoken.
What the apps do not do
- No account to create, no sign-up, no email address requested.
- No server of ours: we store no data about you, anywhere.
- No audience measurement or behaviour tracking inside the apps.
- No sale or transfer of data to anyone.
- No access to contacts, photos, location, microphone or camera: the apps request none of these permissions.
This website
This site is static: no accounts, no forms, no database. It sets no cookies.
We use Cloudflare Web Analytics to know how many pages are viewed and where visits come from. That tool sets no cookie, does not follow visitors individually and builds no profile: it only produces totals. That is why no consent banner is needed.
As with any website, our host keeps technical connection logs (IP address, date, page viewed) for security and reliability, for a limited period it defines.
How long data is kept
- Data stored on your phone: as long as the app stays installed, or until you reset your profile.
- The Android backup: as long as you keep it in your Google account.
- Advertising data: for the periods set by Google in its own policy.
- The site's technical logs: for the periods set by the host.
Your rights
European data protection law gives you rights of access, rectification, erasure, objection, restriction and portability over data concerning you.
As we hold no data about you, most of these rights are exercised directly, without going through us:
- erase your learning data: Settings, then "Reset profile";
- delete the backup: in your phone's Android backup settings;
- act on advertising: in Android settings, Privacy section, you can reset or delete your advertising identifier; rights relating to advertising data are exercised with Google.
For any question, write to us at Verboquiz@gmail.com. If an answer does not satisfy you, you may contact the data protection authority in your country.
Minimum age
The VerboQuiz apps are aimed at adults and teenagers aged 13 and over. They are not intended for children under 13 and do not knowingly collect data about them.
Changes to this policy
This page may change, in particular as new features appear. The date of the last update is shown at the top. Significant changes will be noted in the app description on Google Play.
